I would like to begin by commending the founder Editor of Asian Journal of Transfusion Science (AJTS), Dr. Nabajyoti Choudhury, for the initiative and vision to start AJTS Journal in the year 2007 and thereafter the next Editor Dr. Ravneet Kaur Bedi who took this journal forward. The National and International Advisory Board Members have also contributed significantly in maintaining the quality and standards of AJTS Journal.
If we go to the history of this journal, it is the extension of 'Transfusion bulletin' under the banner of Indian Society of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (ISBTI). The first issue of the Transfusion Bulletin was published in the year 1980 and it disseminated the knowledge of Transfusion Science to all the members of ISBTI. The AJTS Journal started in the year 2007 as an official publication of ISBTI and is a combined publication of ISBTI and ISTM (Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine) since 2012.
AJTS is a peer reviewed journal that publishes original articles, case reports, review articles, special articles, illustrations and letters to the editor on all aspects of Transfusion Medicine. Since the year 2018, this publication has been indexed and abstracted in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). The journal is currently indexed with PubMed Central, Scopus, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), ESCI, Index Copernicus, Indian Science Abstracts, IndMed and Web of Science.
I am greatly honored to take on the role as Editor of AJTS Journal. I laud the efforts of the previous editorial teams in getting the journal off to a good start and maintaining high standards and quality thereof. The journal has great potential and is valuable to the society and scientific community. Over the past few years, various efforts have been taken to bring up the quality of the journal.
AJTS Journal focuses on publishing high quality academic articles. While this journal wants to encourage academic endeavor, it welcomes contributions of scientific articles from anywhere in the world. As the Journals moves towards the next stage, we encourage contributors to submit thoughtful articles of an acceptable standard.
For an academic Journal to thrive in today's challenging world, it must add value through quality peer – reviewed studies and reviews as well as thought provoking articles.
The efforts of Editorial Team and the Reviewers have helped to enhance the quality of the articles submitted for publication. We are grateful to all the authors and reviewers to take the journal forward.
